KUCHING – Sarawak Skills Development Centre (Sarawak Skills) held its 31st Annual General Meeting (AGM) recently, bringing together its Management Council Members, Sarawak Skills members, and the staff management.
The AGM served as a platform to review the organisation’s performance and achievements, deliberate on matters concerning its future direction and reaffirm its commitment to remaining responsive to the evolving needs of Sarawak and its industries.
During the AGM, an election was also conducted for the new line-up of the Sarawak Skills Management Council for the term mid-2026 to mid-2029. The election formed an important part of the organisation’s governance process, ensuring the continuity of responsible and forward-looking leadership.
Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Haji Abdul Aziz bin Dato Haji Husain was re-elected as Chairman of Sarawak Skills for the new term. His re-election reflects the members’ continued confidence in his leadership, experience and commitment to advancing the organisation’s aspirations.
In his welcoming remarks, Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Haji Abdul Aziz expressed his appreciation to the Management Council Members and members of Sarawak Skills for their continued commitment to the organisation’s development and advancement.
He also recorded his appreciation to the outgoing Management Council Members for their guidance, dedication and valuable contributions throughout their term.
“Their collective leadership has played an important role in supporting the management and strengthening the institution’s position as one of Sarawak’s leading Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutions,” he said.
Congratulating the newly elected Management Council Members, Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Haji Abdul Aziz reminded them of the significant responsibilities entrusted to them and expressed confidence that they would continue to uphold the values, integrity and aspirations of Sarawak Skills.
Sarawak Skills currently has 88 members representing various ministries, government agencies and industries. This diverse membership strengthens collaboration and provides valuable expertise in supporting the organisation’s delivery of industry-relevant TVET and workforce development initiatives.
Reflecting on the organisation’s performance, he described 2025 as another significant and productive year for Sarawak Skills, during which it continued to strengthen its institutional capabilities, expand strategic partnerships and enhance the quality and relevance of its TVET programmes.
Among the key achievements highlighted was Sarawak Skills’ success in the Single Rating for TVET Programmes 2025 conducted by the Department of Skills Development Malaysia. Sarawak Skills achieved the highest number of five-star-rated programmes among all institutions assessed nationwide.
Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Haji Abdul Aziz said the achievement reflected the dedication and professionalism of the management, instructors, trainers and supporting staff, as well as the organisation’s commitment to delivering programmes that meet the expectations of learners, industries and regulatory bodies.
He concluded by calling upon all members to continue contributing their support, ideas and commitment, emphasising that the organisation’s strength lies in the collective expertise and shared purpose of its members and partners.
