KUCHING, SARAWAK, – Sarawak Skills and IMSEA Education (M) Sdn Bhd have formalised a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at developing and implementing programmes within the Alibaba Group ecosystem, focusing on digital commerce, artificial intelligence (AI), and cross-border e-commerce.

The collaboration marks a significant milestone in strengthening industry-driven education and enhancing the region’s digital talent pipeline in alignment with global technological advancements.

The recent MoU signing ceremony was officiated and witnessed by Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Haji Abdul Aziz bin Dato Haji Husain, Chairman of Sarawak Skills, underscoring the importance of strategic collaborations in accelerating Sarawak’s digital transformation agenda.

The signatories of the MoU were Mr Hallman bin Sabri, Executive Director of Sarawak Skills and Professor Wallace Wong Shung Hui, Director of IMSEA Education (M) Sdn Bhd. Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Haji Abdul Aziz bin Dato Haji Husain, Chairman of Sarawak Skills, Mr Feng Diyang, Chairman of Pute Education Group and Dean of Alibaba Digital Commerce Industry College, Mr Mohamad Isham bin Fauzi, Chief Strategy Officer Sarawak Skills, and Ms Celine Tay Jing Ying, Manager IMSEA Education (M) Sdn Bhd witnessed the signing of the MoU.

Mr Hallman bin Sabri, highlighted the strategic importance of the collaboration in equipping local talent with globally relevant digital skills. “This MoU represents a forward-looking partnership that bridges education and industry within one of the world’s most influential digital ecosystems. By leveraging the Alibaba platform and expertise, we are opening doors for our learners to gain exposure to real-world digital commerce practices at a global scale.”

The partnership will focus on co-developing training programmes, industry certifications, and knowledge-sharing initiatives that integrate cutting-edge practices in AI, digital commerce, and cross-border trade. It is also expected to provide participants with access to global platforms, industry mentorship, and practical learning opportunities within the Alibaba ecosystem.

This initiative reflects a shared commitment between Sarawak Skills and IMSEA Education (M) Sdn Bhd to empower learners with the competencies required to thrive in the rapidly evolving digital economy, while positioning Sarawak as a hub for digital innovation and talent development.
