562 PARTICIPANTS JOIN CHARITY RUN CELEBRATING SARAWAK SKILLS 30TH ANNIVERSARY

3 November 2024: The Sarawak Skills Development Centre (Sarawak Skills) successfully hosted a vibrant Charity Run today in conjunction with the 30th Anniversary of Sarawak Skills, attracting approximately 562 participants. The event was graced by Yang Berbahagia, Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Haji Abdul Aziz bin Dato Haji Husain, Chairman of Sarawak Skills.

Organized in collaboration with the Sarawak Electronics and Supporting Industries Companies Association (SECA), the City Jogger’s Club (CJC), and the Sarawak General Hospital, the charity run was designed to promote a healthy and active lifestyle within the community. Participants had the option to join either a 5KM run starting at 6:30 a.m. or a 3KM run beginning at 6:40 a.m., fostering a spirit of fitness and camaraderie among attendees.

“This run is not only a celebration of Sarawak Skills’ three decades of excellence in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) but also emphasizes the importance of all stakeholders working together for the betterment of our community,” said Mr. Hallman bin Sabri, Executive Director of Sarawak Skills. “The proceeds from this event, amounting to RM45,000, will be dedicated to purchasing a new dialysis machine for the Nephrology Department at the Sarawak General Hospital, enhancing patient care for those in need.”

Mr. Hallman expressed gratitude towards the strategic partners SECA, CJC, and the Sarawak General Hospital for their collaboration in this meaningful initiative. “Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of individuals receiving treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital,” he added.

In addition to the runs, participants enjoyed a lively aerobics session, a lucky draw, and the presentation of a mock-up cheque to the Sarawak General Hospital, further highlighting the community spirit of the event.

The Charity Run underscores Sarawak Skills’ commitment to fostering a healthier community while supporting vital healthcare services in the region.

Also present were Puan Sri Datin Amar Nur Ashima Aziz, Mr. John Rizal anak Biki, Chairman of Sarawak Skills 30th Anniversary Charity Run 2024, Mr Lee Boon Chun, Chairman of Sarawak Electronics and Supporting Industries Companies Association (SECA), Dr. Alex Kim Ren Jye, Deputy Director of Sarawak General Hospital, Dr. Clare Tan Hui Hong, Consultant Nephrology Department of Sarawak General Hospital, and Sarawak Skills top management.
