On 20 April 2024, training commenced for the inaugural cohort of the Wireman Second Grade (G2 – Low Voltage Single Phase Installations) short course under the newly minted collaboration between the Advanced Technology Training Centre (ADTEC) Bintulu and the Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions (Sarawak Skills).

Conducted at ADTEC Bintulu, the inaugural cohort comprises twenty (20) working adults from various industries located in and around Bintulu. The fast-track course is conducted on weekends (5 days) followed by a 2-day assessment/certification by the Electrical Inspectorate Unit (EIU) under the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak.

Commenting on this latest development, Mr. Mohamad Isham bin Fauzi, Chief Strategy Officer of Sarawak Skills highlighted, “The collaboration between ADTEC Bintulu and Sarawak Skills is an important milestone; it enables both parties to synergize substantial expertise and resources, and boost ongoing strategic initiatives, especially in the area of contributing to the transformation of Sarawak’s six key economic sectors in line with the Sarawak Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).”

He continued, “We are working closely with various stakeholders, especially the government and various industry sectors, to close the competency gap by producing ‘competent electrical persons’. For HRD Corp registered employers, the course fee is HRD Corp claimable.”

Mr. Mohamad Isham also shared that both Sarawak Skills and ADTEC Bintulu would be formalizing various joint strategic initiatives covering the broad spectrum of talent development, new programme development, knowledge sharing and research. This would facilitate the noble cause of Human Capital Development for the benefit of current and future generations of the populace.
