SARAWAK SKILLS EMPOWERS TABUAN JAYA COMMUNITY THROUGH CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR) TRAINING PROGRAMMES

KUCHING: Sarawak Skills, a leading provider of technical training, recently conducted two impactful training programmes, namely Hydroponic Basic Farming and Event Management, in collaboration with JKKK Kampung Tabuan Jaya Tengah.

A total of 41 participants comprising housewives, youths, school leavers and village committee members from 5 (five) villages in the Tabuan Jaya area participated in the training programmes.

The Hydroponic Basic Farming programme focused on imparting knowledge and practical skills in vegetable farming using hydroponic systems. The goal was to equip the local community in Tabuan Jaya with innovative and sustainable farming practices.

The Event Management training programme aimed to educate participants on crucial aspects of organizing successful events, catering to the growing interest in this field.

During the closing ceremony of the aforementioned programmes, Mr. Hallman bin Sabri, Sarawak Skills Executive Director highlighted that the success of the community training programmes is in line with Sarawak Skills’ commitment to foster skills that contribute to sustainable livelihoods.

In addition to community development, Mr Hallman shared that Sarawak Skills remains steadfast in its commitment to collaborate with the community to facilitate the adoption of the latest technologies. In his respect, He stressed the importance of Industrial Revolution 4.0 awareness among the community.

“Sarawak Skills plays a pivotal role in empowering communities, not only through skill development but also by ensuring they stay abreast of cutting-edge technologies that define the contemporary landscape.” He said.

Commenting on the two training programmes, Mr. Sofhi bin Haji Jebal, Kuching District Officer, expressed his appreciation for Sarawak Skills’ initiative in organizing these programmes. He highlighted the significant benefits participants gained from the training sessions, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in fostering knowledge and skill development within the local community.

He emphasized, “The programmes received positive responses from diverse participants, reflecting the community’s eagerness to enhance their capabilities in farming and event management.”

Also present were Mr Mohamad Isham bin Fauzi, Chief Strategy Officer for Strategic Engagement and Business Development, Sarawak Skills and Madam Diana John, Tuai Rumah, Kampung Tabuan Jaya Tengah.
