Two outstanding alumni, Adlee bin Abdul Hamid from i-CATS University College (i-
CATS UC) and Melvin Munan Anak Ingga from Sarawak Skills (Automotive and
Welding Institute of Sarawak – AWISAR), have been selected to participate in a
prestigious one-month industry training programme in China, taking place from 7
April to 7 May 2025.
Announced during the 26th Sarawak Skills and i-CATS University College
Convocation Ceremony, the industry training award sponsored by Foshan Feichi
Motor Technology Company Limited recognises their exceptional achievements and
strong potential in the field of technical and vocational education and training
(TVET). This initiative is part of Sarawak’s broader commitment to nurturing a future-
ready workforce aligned with global advancements in green mobility and hydrogen
technology.
Highlighting the significance of this initiative, Mr. Hallman bin Sabri, Executive
Director of Sarawak Skills, stated: “This international exposure is a testament to our
dedication in producing globally competitive, industry-relevant graduates. Adlee and
Melvin exemplify the high standards we strive for at Sarawak Skills and i-CATS UC.
Their participation in this programme will not only enhance their technical capabilities
but also contribute meaningfully to Sarawak’s ambitions in hydrogen technology and
sustainable transport. We are confident they will return with valuable insights that will inspire others and strengthen our talent pool in key emerging industries.”
Over the course of the month, Adlee and Melvin will undergo intensive, hands-on
training at several leading institutions and manufacturing facilities across China.
Their journey begins with an introduction to hydrogen technologies and system
integration at a hydrogen equipment manufacturer’s factory. This is followed by
practical and theoretical training on state-of-the-art electric vehicle (EV)
systems—including autonomous driving technology. The next phase includes an
industrial placement at the Foshan Feichi factory, where they will explore hydrogen-
powered commercial vehicle production. Their programme concludes with in-depth
exposure to the development and manufacturing of hydrogen fuel cell systems and
stacks.
This international collaboration reflects the ongoing efforts of Sarawak Skills, i-CATS
UC and the industries to equip graduates with cutting-edge competencies, ensuring
they are well-prepared to support Sarawak’s progress towards a resilient,
sustainable, and innovation-driven economy.
