On 11 June 2024, a total of 582 participants, including current Form 4 and Form 5 students, and alumni from SMK Tebedu participated in The Choice Education Programme which was co-organized by the Sarawak Electronics and Supporting Industries Companies Association (SECA), Sarawak Skills, i-CATS University College and SMK Tebedu.
Held at SMK Tebedu, the programme featured diverse activities designed to enrich and inform the students and alumni about the wide range of post-secondary educational opportunities and pathways leading to exciting careers. These activities included an education talk, exhibition, counselling sessions, career talk, and a presentation on career opportunities at SECA.
As part of his remarks during the closing ceremony, Mr. Mohamad Isham bin Fauzi, Chief Strategy Officer of Sarawak Skills, shared on the significance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in today’s job market. In this respect, he shared on the Sarawak Government’s ongoing commitment to develop a skilled workforce to transform Sarawak for the benefit of the populace. “The Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions plays an important role in developing human resources to facilitate the transformation of Sarawak’s economy in the era of Industry Revolution 4.0 and the Digital Economy in line with the goals of the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).” He said.
The Choice Education Programme is one of the ongoing initiatives between Sarawak Skills, i-CATS University College and SECA to inculcate the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), career pathways to the student, and job opportunities for school leavers. Together with their strategic partners from various industry sectors, the programme will be held throughout Sarawak to advance the noble cause of talent development.
Also present are Mr Adrian Roy Noeb, Senior Assistant Student Affairs representing Mr. Albert Anak Dundang, the Principal of SMK Tebedu and Madam Maureen Labarge, Senior Director of People and Culture, X-FAB Sarawak Sdn Bhd.
