On 16 June 2023, a delegation from the Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions (Sarawak Skills) visited PETRONAS Research Sdn. Bhd. (PRSB) in Bangi.

Led by Dato Hajjah Maznah binti Haji Dasmi (Secretary of the Sarawak Skills Management Council) and Mr. Hallman bin Sabri (Executive Director of Sarawak Skills, and Chairman of the Federation of Malaysian Skills Development Centres (FMSDC)), the visit was a wonderful opportunity for the visitors to gain first-hand knowledge and refreshing insights into the major roles and wide range of activities undertaken by PRSB. In a nutshell, PRSB is a full-fledged business-driven Research and Development (R & D) centre – in addition to research and various related activities for the PETRONAS Group as well as other petroleum-related companies, both domestically and internationally, the research centre is a strategic partner to numerous stakeholders. In this respect, its activities cover the broad spectrum of learning, research, and contributing a range of services, resources and programmes to strengthen effective discovery, use and management of information as well as other resources.

PETRONAS is a Founder Member of the Sarawak Skills Management Council. This visit also paves the way for both organizations to explore new joint initiatives, specifically talent development initiatives for the benefit of current and future generations of the workforce in Sarawak. Indeed, this will go a long way towards contributing to the transformation of Sarawak’s six key economic sectors (main engines of growth) in line with the Sarawak Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).

Our thanks to Mr. M. Adaham Ishak, General Manager, Technology Programme, PRSB and his team members for their warm hospitality!
