On 9 July 2023, Sarawak Skills, Tabuan Jaya, Kuching extended a warm welcome to a delegation comprising dignitaries from Brunei Darussalam and Timor-Leste.

Led by Dato Nasir Latif, CEO of Timorese Manpower Agency, the distinguished members of the delegation were His Excellency Abel Guterres (Ambassador of Timor-Leste in Brunei Darussalam), Her Excellency Joana Veneranda Amaral (Ambassador of Timor-Leste in Malaysia), Pengiran Dr. Haji Haris bin Pengiran Haji Duraman (Chairman of Brunei Darussalam BIMP-EAGA Business Council), Mr. Md Metussin Haji Wahab (Head of Trade and Investment Facilitation, Brunei Darussalam BIMP-EAGA Business Council), Mr. Peter Wong (Stratcom Global, Brunei Darussalam) and Mr. Jessy (from the Embassy of Timor-Leste in Malaysia).

On arrival, the visitors were given a guided tour of the Sarawak Skills’ Talent Development Gallery by Mr. Hallman bin Sabri, Executive Director of the Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions (Sarawak Skills) and Chairman of the Federation of Malaysian Skills Development Centres (FMSDC). The gallery chronicles Sarawak Skills’ voyage over the past twenty-nine years as a stakeholder in the transformation of Sarawak’s vibrant socio-economic landscape.

Following the tour of the gallery, a briefing was held to update the visitors on the latest developments at the Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions, including new/upcoming training centres/institutions.

Indeed, this familiarization visit enabled the visitors to gain first-hand information about the Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions including its wide range of academic and skills programmes, as well as training programmes. This visit also paves the way for the parties, including various stakeholders in the BIMP-EAGA region, to explore opportunities for collaboration.
