In line with its role as a stakeholder in the transformation of Sarawak’s digital, economic and educational landscape, the Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions (Sarawak Skills) will be offering a comprehensive Fibre Optics training programme in August 2023.

Commenting on the upcoming training programme, Mr. Hallman bin Sabri, Executive Director of Sarawak Skills and Chairman of the Federation of Malaysian Skills Development Centres (FMSDC) highlighted, “Sarawak Skills has received numerous requests from the various industry sectors to offer a comprehensive Fibre Optics training programme in Kuching. In this respect, we are pleased to announce that the two-day training programme will be held at Sarawak Skills Tabuan Jaya, Kuching on 22 and 23 August 2023. For HRD Corp registered employers, the course fee is HRD Corp claimable.” He emphasized, “With the increasing importance of the digital economy, there is an urgent need to equip today’s workforce with the relevant knowledge and competencies/skills to thrive in an ever-changing and vibrant global economy. This comprehensive Fibre Optics training programme will be an important step forward in developing the necessary technical expertise to support the transformation of Sarawak’s six key economic sectors (main engines of growth) in line with the Sarawak Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).”

Mr. Hallman also shared, “In today’s ever-vibrant and fast-paced digital world, the demand for high-speed and reliable data transmission is growing exponentially. In this respect, fibre optics technology plays a crucial role by offering unparalleled bandwidth and signal integrity. Indeed, fibre optics is well regarded as the foundation of modern data transmission. Designed by industry experts, the upcoming training programme will cover fibre optics installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance. During the two-day programme, the practical sessions will enable participants to gain first-hand knowledge and skills in the following areas: Fibre Optic Cable Network Project Pre-installation, Inside Plant (ISP) Installation, Jointing, Testing, Commissioning and Maintenance. This programme will boost industry-relevant knowledge and skills for those involved in this industry, including technicians, project engineers and site supervisors.”
