KUCHING – <\/span><\/b>The GE Vernova Energy Industry Skills Scholarship \u2013 Electrician Low Voltage Chargeman (L1) Programme is currently being conducted at the Sarawak Electrical Industry Training Institute (SEITI), Tabuan Laru, a subsidiary company of Sarawak Skills. The programme is jointly initiated by the Federation of Malaysian Skills Development Centres (FMSDC) and the GE Vernova Foundation, with Sarawak Skills appointed to implement the programme under the FMSDC network.<\/span><\/p>

A total of 42 participants enrolled across two batches in this six-month programme, with Batch 1 running from 14 February to 12 July 2026 and Batch 2 from 28 February to 19 July 2026.<\/span><\/p>

This scholarship initiative supports a structured training programme focused on electrical system maintenance, troubleshooting, and compliance with regulatory standards in both industrial and commercial facilities. It aims to address the growing skills gap in low-voltage electrical installation, preventive maintenance, and safety practices, while contributing to workforce readiness and the overall growth of Malaysia\u2019s electrical services sector.<\/span><\/p>

The programme adopts a competency-based curriculum aligned with industry standards and emphasises high-quality practical training. It also strengthens collaboration with industry partners to provide participants with valuable work-based learning opportunities. Ultimately, the programme aims to enhance the professional competencies and career progression of participants, particularly within the renewable energy and industrial sectors, while ensuring its long-term sustainability and scalability.<\/span><\/p>

Participants in the programme consist of technicians and maintenance personnel with more than three years of experience in the electrical field, particularly from Sarawak, as well as individuals from underprivileged backgrounds. This targeted approach ensures that the programme not only strengthens technical capabilities but also supports inclusive workforce development.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Throughout the six-month training, participants are gaining comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in low-voltage electrical systems, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety compliance. The programme is carefully structured to align with industry and regulatory requirements, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to meet current and future demands of the electrical services sector.<\/span><\/p>

Speaking on the initiative, Mr Hallman bin Sabri, Executive Director of Sarawak Skills and Chairman of FMSDC, highlighted the importance of such programmes in shaping a future-ready workforce. \u201cThis programme reflects our commitment to nurturing a highly skilled and competent workforce that meets industry standards and regulatory requirements. By equipping participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, we are preparing them to contribute effectively to Malaysia\u2019s growing electrical and energy sectors.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

He further emphasised the importance of collaboration in delivering impactful training. \u201cThe strong collaboration between FMSDC and the GE Vernova Foundation demonstrates how strategic partnerships can effectively address industry needs while creating meaningful opportunities for skills development.\u201d<\/span><\/p>
