Padawan, Sarawak – <\/b><\/strong>A working visit to the Paddy Cultivation Project in Tawang Baa, Padawan, was conducted to assess the project\u2019s development, impact, and future potential in strengthening sustainable agriculture and enhancing rural livelihoods. The project, funded by Yayasan Hasanah and implemented by Sarawak Skills, is emerging as a model for community-centred agricultural innovation in Sarawak.<\/p>

The visit was joined by Madam Anielia anak Siam, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Sarawak (MEITD). Her participation underscored the State Government\u2019s strong commitment to supporting transformative initiatives that empower rural communities and promote long-term economic resilience. During the visit, Madam Anielia engaged directly with local stakeholders, discussing on-ground challenges, training needs, and potential collaborative pathways to further strengthen the project.<\/span><\/p>

The Paddy Cultivation Project has garnered broad institutional support from MEITD, the Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, Sarawak (M-FICORD), the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB), and the Department of Agriculture (DOA), Sarawak. This multi-agency cooperation reflects a shared vision to advance sustainable agricultural practices while uplifting the socio-economic well-being of rural communities across the State.<\/span><\/p>

During the programme, Mr. Hallman bin Sabri, Executive Director of Sarawak Skills, highlighted, “The Paddy Cultivation Project represents more than just agricultural development; it embodies our commitment to empowering rural communities through knowledge, skills, and sustainable practices. We are proud to work alongside Yayasan Hasanah, government agencies, and local leaders to ensure this project not only thrives but also becomes a model for other communities. By equipping farmers with modern cultivation techniques, improving productivity, and fostering economic opportunities, we are laying the groundwork for long-term resilience and prosperity in Tawang Baa and beyond.”<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

He further emphasized, “Our vision is to see these communities flourish, not only in terms of agricultural output but also in confidence, capability, and economic independence. This initiative demonstrates what can be achieved when the public sector, private sector, and local communities unite with a shared purpose. We are committed to continuing our support, providing training, and ensuring that the benefits of this project are sustainable for generations to come.”<\/p>

Mr. Punet Siet, Punau Head of Village, also delivered an appreciation speech, expressing heartfelt gratitude to Yayasan Hasanah, Sarawak Skills, government ministries, and all partners involved. He acknowledged the project\u2019s positive impact on the community, noting improved agricultural knowledge, enhanced farming capabilities, and the renewed hope the initiative brings to local families.<\/span><\/p>
