Bintulu, Sarawak <\/b><\/strong>\u2013 Sarawak Skills Bintulu, in partnership with Lembaga Perindustrian Nanas Malaysia (LPNM), held a briefing session and working visit for the \u201cKursus Pengurusan Teknologi Tanaman Nanas\u201d<\/i><\/em>\u00a0recently. The event was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Sarawak, who highlighted the crucial role of technology and vocational training in modernising agriculture.<\/p>

In his speech, YB Dato Sri Roland expressed appreciation to both organisations for developing a programme that combines agricultural technology, innovation, and TVET. \u201cAs we move forward under PCDS 2030, Sarawak\u2019s transformation depends heavily on talent, technology, and training,\u201d he said. He added that while Sarawak has made strong progress in technical fields, \u201cit is equally important that we bring innovation into the agricultural sector, especially in high-value crops like pineapple.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

He emphasised that the future of agriculture requires technology adoption, data-driven decision-making, and skilled workers capable of managing farms through modern systems. \u201cThe days of relying solely on traditional methods are over. Our farms must operate like smart industries using automation, sensors, and digital management tools,\u201d he stated.<\/span><\/p>

YB Roland described the pineapple technology course as timely and strategic. \u201cThis programme not only covers cultivation techniques but also integrates agrotechnology, sustainability, and business management. It equips smallholders, youth, and entrepreneurs with the skills they need to succeed,\u201d he said. He also noted that the initiative strengthens participants\u2019 ability to apply smart farming techniques, improve productivity through technology, and understand the agricultural value chain.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Minister commended Sarawak Skills Bintulu for its growth as a northern hub for technical training and acknowledged its recent MoU with ADTEC Bintulu. He said such collaborations support the Ministry\u2019s mission to create a synergised, industry-driven TVET ecosystem across sectors, including digital technology, agriculture, and green innovation.<\/p>

Looking ahead, YB Roland encouraged Sarawak Skills, LPNM, and industry partners to continue expanding training access for rural communities, enhancing agricultural modules with digital tools such as IoT and drones, and ensuring that all training contributes directly to employability, entrepreneurship, and sustainable community development. \u201cBy integrating agriculture, technology, and vocational training, we can empower Sarawakians not only to work in industries but to become innovators and agri-entrepreneurs,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>

Sarawak Skills Executive Director, Mr Hallman bin Sabri, reiterated the organisation\u2019s commitment to supporting the State\u2019s agenda for a technologically advanced and skilled workforce.<\/span><\/p>
