The STEM Catalyst Programme (Hydrogen and Digital System) 2024, which took place over three days from December 3 to December 6, 2024, has successfully engaging over 1,000 pupils from the schools and surrounding schools in Kota Samarahan, Serian and Sri Aman. Hosted by Sarawak Skills and organized by the Ministry of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Sarawak, the program aimed to ignite curiosity, innovation, and collaboration among young minds, particularly in the fields of hydrogen technology and digital systems. The programme was held at SK Merdang Samarahan (December 3), SK Serian (December 4), and SK St. Luke Sri Aman (December 6).<\/p>

The STEM Catalyst aims to educate, excite and inspire students in STEM. The inaugural STEM Catalyst edition focusses on the hydrogen future through digital system. It explores the use of ICT, using the Raspberry Pi as a foundation, to showcase the cyber-physical integration in hydrogen generation and application.<\/p>

This edition is designed to support of the Ministry\u2019s Cultivating ICT Know-How Amongst Teachers & Students program as well.<\/p>

During the closing ceremony, Mr. Hallman bin Sabri, Executive Director of Sarawak Skills, reflected on the impressive student engagement with the programme, emphasizing the power of STEM to shape the future. He urged the pupils to continue pushing boundaries, particularly in the area of sustainable energy, where Sarawak is taking a leading role. Sarawak is the first state in Malaysia\u2014and one of the first in Southeast Asia\u2014to produce hydrogen as a clean and sustainable energy source, positioning the region as a global leader in the hydrogen economy.<\/p>

Mr. Hallman highlighted the critical role that green hydrogen, produced from renewable energy, can play in reducing dependence on fossil fuels, minimizing carbon emissions, and creating a sustainable future. He also emphasized on the need to master digital technology in order to excel in hydrogen future.<\/p>

He encouraged the pupils to engage with this rapidly developing sector, noting that their involvement could help drive the next wave of green technologies that will shape the future of energy worldwide.<\/p>

The event also provided an opportunity to recognize the importance of the support from mentors, parents, and sponsors. Mr. Hallman expressed his deepest gratitude to the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Sarawak, and all partners, including the Sarawak Research and Development Council and the Sarawak Science Centre for developing the STEM content for the programme, as well as to Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak and University Technology Sarawak for their valuable contributions in making the programme a success.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
