Thirty (30) staff members from across the Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions (Sarawak Skills) have completed a two-day intensive, cutting-edge Sustainability Workshop.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Held at the Sarawak Skills Group Headquarters, Tabuan Jaya, Kuching on 15 and 16 May 2024, the workshop was facilitated by Mr. Fareed Abdul Ghani,\u00a0\u00a0Managing Director and Principal Consultant of Mindsights Sdn. Bhd. Commenting on the workshop, Mr. Hallman bin Sabri, Executive Director of Sarawak Skills highlighted, \u201cFor Sarawak Skills, this workshop serves as an important milestone \u2013 taking that all-important step to shift our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) journey under our sustainability initiatives into high gear, and transform our team members into Sustainability Champions. Indeed, as a stakeholder in the transformation of Sarawak\u2019s digital, economic, and educational landscape, this workshop is part and parcel of Sarawak Skills\u2019 ongoing staff talent development initiatives to support the Sarawak Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) and the Sarawak Government\u2019s ongoing initiatives in carbon reduction emission.\u201d<\/p>

Mr. Hallman, who is also the Chairman of the Federation of Malaysian Skills Development Centres (FMSDC) added, \u201cI am pleased to note that the hands-on workshop introduced participants to the foundations upon which sustainability and modern-day ESG are built, how market forces react to ESG, and ways to create value using ESG-related strategies. During the course of the workshop, our team members also examined the challenges that corporations and stakeholders face when it comes to leveraging sustainability and ESG reporting into their portfolios, and how the changing landscape of national and international sustainability and ESG disclosures are important to the future of doing business around the globe. Indeed, ESG criteria are increasingly used by investors and other stakeholders to assess the sustainability and long-term viability of organizations. Organizations that score well on ESG criteria are often seen as more responsible and better managed, which can translate into better financial performance over the long term.\u201d He continued, \u201cBy learning from real-life case studies during the workshop, our team members have been able to acquire relevant knowledge and build a strong foundation in sustainability, climate change, United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs), sustainability reporting and develop detailed strategies for sustainability improvement.\u201d<\/p>
